Online Roulette Myths

Roulette is a game that wholly depends on chance rather than skill. However, a surprising number of players are of the opinion that skill plays a big part in wins and that there are things that can be done to enhance winning chances. These folks are also the source of many of the roulette myths and fallacies that have emerged over the years.
Here are a few online roulette myths, read it and weep!

Online Roulette Myths

Sleeping Numbers Are Winning Numbers– Sleeping numbers are those that for some incomprehensible reason has not come up for some time. While there’s no apparent explanation for this, some players are of the opinion that the fact such numbers are sleeping means that they will shortly come up and so bet accordingly. In actual fact, the probability that a sleeping number will come up is identical to the probability that a non-sleeping number will come up.
First Color, Good Win– A few players like to bet on the first colour on the wheel that catches their attention, in the belief that it is their lucky ticket.
Past Wins Equal Future Success– Some players of online roulette believe that by betting on numbers that previously resulted in wins they can win again. However, the chances of a number coming up are totally random.
Lucky Items For Lucky Wins– Some players resort to carrying around such ostensibly lucky items as a rabbit’s foot, horseshoe, four-leaf clover and the like in the hope of getting really lucky at the wheel. Unfortunately, the reality seldom matches expectation.
Bad Luck Charm– The very superstitious might imagine that normal everyday features like breaking a mirror, walking under a ladder and the like creates immense amounts of bad luck. Should such apparently bad luck events occur, they will not play online roulette for the day.
Prayer Is The Key– Some roulette players either prayer before or during gameplay, or take along religious items with them in the hope of getting God on their side during gameplay sessions.
Dealers Are Extra Powerful– Some players are under the impression that the dealer is an all-powerful being who can make the ball stop in whatever pocket he/she wishes. This is however totally impossible.
Wheels Up– Quite a few roulette players think that all wheels are the same. But actually, roulette wheels come in two main types- American and European. The American version has 38 slots and a house edge of 5.25%. The European roulette wheel, on the other hand, has a house edge of 2.7% and 37 slots.
No Random Spins Possible– A few roulette players resolutely ignore all evidence to the contrary and believe that spins are not random and that previous spins influence the outcome of the next spin. They, therefore, keep betting on sleeping numbers in the hope that it will soon come up and bless them with fortunes.
Mathematics Is The Key– Some players might seek to analyze past spins in online Roulette in the hope of coming up with a winning formula that will consistently let them take home the bacon. It bears repeating that this is a fool’s errand, as each spin is as random as it can be.
Money Management Leads To Success– Money management is not applicable to online Roulette, as it has no means of influencing the house edge. Applying it will instead lull players into a false sense of security that will vanish like a breeze once they take a loss.

Are there any other online roulette myths and fallacies that you know of? It would be interesting to find out, isn’t it?
