Betting Strategy to Play Multi-Deck Blackjack

Blackjack is a very unpredictable game. So it is important to have a strategy while going into the game. Following a strategy in Blackjack might seem difficult but it is a great way to begin. Without a strategy, the player becomes clueless and might lose his morals while losing or become overwhelmed on gaining and bid an unreasonable amount of money and lose it in the next hand.

However, the strategies used might be different in different situations. When it comes to playing Blackjack where multiple decks are used, the game is trickier and so are the strategies. The two main strategies that are effective while playing Blackjack with multiple decks are Progressive Betting and Regressive Betting.

What Does a Player Need to Have a Betting Strategy in Blackjack?

If you are playing more than a couple of hands of Blackjack, then your betting strategy can significantly affect your earnings. That is why it is important to be aware of the different strategies available to you, and to choose the one that will maximise your returns. The two main betting strategies to be aware of are progressive and regression betting.

Progressive Strategy in Multi-Deck Blackjack

Progressive betting is one of the most popular betting strategies used by players. This strategy is very simple. In this strategy, you increase your bets after gaining hands and lower them after losing hands. The common increase and decrease in the bet are by a factor of 2. In this way, the Progressive Betting system effectively limits your average losses and increases your average earnings.

Take, for instance, you find a Blackjack table that requires a $5 minimum bet. You play a hand and lose. You double your bet to $10. You lose a second hand and double it to $20. You may win on this hand, which means that you get to claim your $20 in winnings. You have won $20 and lost $15. This means that your net earnings are equivalent to your initial $5 bet.

Regression Strategy in Multi-Deck Blackjack

Regression betting is the opposite of progressive betting. You have to lower your bets after gain and raise them after a loss. Here too, the usual factor for increasing and decreasing the bet is 2. The advantage of this system is that your earnings will eventually exceed your losses if you play long enough.

Say, for instance, let us assume that you used a regression betting strategy for a hand of $5. You lose your first hand after betting $5, so you keep your bet the same. You lose again and keep your bid the same. On the third hand, you may win back $5. You still have a $5 net loss, but you are feeling confident since you won the last hand. You double your bet to $10 and if you win you decide to double your bet again to $20. You may win a third time, which means that you have earned $25 in net earnings.

However, there are some things that the player needs to know that is:

  1. The player needs to have a good amount of money in hand to keep increasing his bet after every loss.
  2. The player needs to begin betting with a small bid and then keep increasing the bet after losing.
  3. The strategy is suitable for playing long streaks.

Which Betting Strategy Is Better?

Blackjack is a game of skill. There is a more legitimate possibility that you simply could have positive streaks if you have a decent strategy. If you notice that you are consistently having several positive streaks within the game of Blackjack, then, the progressive betting strategy could also be a stronger choice, as you may maximise your earnings from winning hands. However, it is also a decent idea to chop back your bets if you are feeling like they have risen too high, as you may lose on the subsequent hand and finally end up at a loss. Eventually, as the player becomes better conversant with Blackjack, the player can use any strategy and be comfortable.

Regardless of the approach, you are taking, the viability of any betting strategy declines the longer you play. You will boost your earnings and reduce your losses with a decent strategy, but over time, your earnings will be more strongly affected by a combination of your playing strategy, your ability to count cards, and sheer luck. So, good luck!
